Note: WSU Tri-Cities offers rolling admissions, meaning we will still accept applications after these dates. However, students who wish to become eligible for merit-based academic awards (free funds that are applied toward tuition), should apply by these dates.
You’re considered a first-year student if you’re applying to WSU for the academic year immediately after graduating from high school (even if you’re in Running Start) or you haven’t attended college since high school graduation.
You’re considered a transfer student if you attended an accredited college or university after your high school graduation, but that doesn’t include the summer immediately following your graduation.
You’re considered an international student if you are not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and you require a visa to study in the U.S.
You’re considered a non-degree student if you want to take a few courses for personal enlightenment or a certificate and don’t intend to join a degree program.
You’re considered a post-degree student if you have already completed a degree from another university.
You’re considered a returning student if you previously attended at least one full semester at any WSU campus and have been away from WSU for two or more semesters.
The Running Start program allows qualifying high school juniors and seniors to attend classes on the WSU Tri Cities campus and receive both high school and college credit simultaneously.
We partner with all Mid-Columbia high schools, along with surrounding school districts, including Prosser, Connell, Columbia, Kahlotus, Finley, Kiona-Benton, Omak and Grandview.
The Bridges Program is for students who plan to start their education at Columbia Basin College (CBC) and finish at Washington State University Tri-Cities. This program is intended for students who have earned less than 45 quarter credits at CBC with a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA.
